I have never really been into cleaning the car up. I'll wash it and give it a quick wax and that's about it. I was gifted a buffer/polisher for christmas this past year so I want to try my skills at detailing. What are some good compounds to use for rubbing/polishing/waxing?

It's sweet at Vatozone started to car the Meguiars m105/205 now.  It's actually not with a crazy price tag either.  The 105 is the aggressive one and the 205 is the finishing.  I'm not sure what polisher you have, but the KBM (Kevin Brown Method) is a great way to achieve a nice finish with a DA polisher like the portercable/similar unit.
